Dixie Chicks Sued Over West Memphis Three Allegations

By: MetroSource News

(Undated) -- Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines' support for the West Memphis Three is resulting in a defamation suit.

CMT.com says the singer and her band mates are being sued by Terry Hobbs, the stepfather of one of the three children that Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are accused of killing. While the men, known as "The West Memphis Three," were convicted of the crime, many people -- including Maines -- believes they are innocent. Last year the country star participated in a Little Rock, Arkansas rally in support of the West Memphis Three and she's written a great deal about the case on the Dixie Chicks' website, including her belief that Hobbs was involved in the 1993 murders.

Maines, apparently, has some documentation to back up her allegations. In her writing she cites the same evidence lawyers have used in efforts to get Echols, Baldwin and Misskelley's convictions overturned.
