CBS's news program "48 hours" will broadcast the story of the David Mark Temple, the former SFA football star turned coach, convicted of the 1999 killing of his wife, Belinda, formerly of Nacogdoches.
"The Guessing Game" will air at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, on CBS, presenting the case as a mystery and a courtroom drama.
"Did this small-town football hero murder his beloved pregnant wife?" asks a Web site promoting the program.
Belinda Temple was found shot in the head by a shotgun in a closet of their Katy home. Investigators suspected Temple after they learned that he was having an affair with a co-worker whom he married more than two years after Belinda's death.
Tom Lucas, of Nacogdoches, who is the father of Belinda Temple, said producers interviewed him and his wife for the program as well as detectives, attorneys and others involved in the case. David Temple also gave an interview from prison, according to Lucas.
Lucas said he refused to participate in the show for years out of grief, but agreed after Temple was convicted by a Houston jury in November 2007. He has not seen a final version of the show, he said.
"After 10 years, I'm still fighting," he said.
