Britney's new video comes under fire

A video from Britney Spears’ new single ‘Circus’ has come under fire from a leading animal rights organization.

The promo clip shows the ‘Hit Me Baby One more Time’ hitmaker in a circus ring with two adult lions positioned on petite podiums and two huge elephants standing unnaturally on two black legs.

After watching the video Animal Defenders International have demanded to Britney to explain the video and express concern over the use of the exotic animals.

ADI has written to the singer outlining the group''s worries over her glamourising of animals in circuses.

"We have asked Britney to consider the suffering behind the scenes in the circus, and take a stand on this issue," Contactmusic quoted ADI chief executive, Jan Creamer, as saying.

"Many people do not realize the true cost to animals, for our entertainment. Intelligent, feeling animals like elephants, who would normally live in close family groups, are not there just for our amusement,” Creamer added.

The ADI brought to light the fact that the exotic animals are put through agonizing training session, and kicked in the face and are inhumanly given electric shocks.

"ADI urges all artistes considering the use of animals to think twice, and give animals their dignity and to help us put an end to the suffering,” Creamer said.
